This includes instruction in listening, speaking, reading, and writing; as well as combining these skills to effectively communicate.
Japanese for International Business I
Introduction of Japanese syntax and expressions used in the workplace. Including a systematic overview of keigo and workplace manners. This includes kenjyogo, sonkeigo, ojigi, and various other cultural norms ubiquitous to the Japanese workplace.
Japanese for International Business II
Continuation of Japanese for International Business I. Focused on case studies of companies’ operation in Japan and learning business concepts in Japanese. Studied the operation of Walmart, Nintendo, and many other large brands operating style. As part of the final project developed a novel business idea and presented it in Japanese.
Glocal Studies in Japan
​ Overview of global influences on local Japanese communities and the changes brought on by it. These include economic changes, societal attitudes, gender inequality, LGBTQ rights, and demographic issues.
Japanese History
Overview of Japanese history from the late Edo-period to modern times. Covered the beginning of Japanese unification, Japan's rise to imperialism in the Asia-pacific, Japan's isolationist policies and its relationship to the West, Japan's participation in the Second World War, and the legacy of the post-war modern era.
Japanese VI
Japanese language course taken at Chukyo University. Focused on advanced grammar, reading excerpts from newspaper and books, and writing on various topics related to Japanese society. Furthered an understanding on various writing styles, vocabulary, kanji, and syntax used specifically in writing.
International Marketing
Overview of marketing practices in international settings with an emphasis on marketing strategies are adjusted to fit a target market. Also provided an overview of international trade practices and challenges. These include customs laws, cultural differences, currency differences, and an other myriad of considerations that international corporations must consider when doing business.
International Relations
Course taken at Chukyo University. Overview of types of international aid and the function of ODAs in Japan. Taught exclusively in Japanese. Included discussions on the functions of ODAs as distributors of foreign aid, the role of the international community in funding aid, various theories and how to best distribute aid, and discussions on the effectives of certain types of foreign aid in developing countries.
International Economics
Overview of the principles of international trade in a free market, as well as in alternate market conditions. Explores tariffs, quotas, anti-dumping regulations, and international specialization.
International Business Management
Overview of business management in a global setting. Including management styles, organization structures, and business approaches that are suitable for a global market with diversity of internal and external actors.
